When passing by the place, I didn’t know I will enjoy my tea there 10 minutes later. We’ve found the spot while wandering around Manchester and it was just in front of the cathedral. They clearly say it on their window: loose leaf tea. How could I say “no” to this?
Rather busy on a rainy Saturday afternoon, we’ve got seated in Proper Tea very quickly. Plenty of teas to choose from as well as good-looking cakes promised a satisfying afternoon break.
What sets the place apart is professionally served tea for which they use 3 dishes: a tea pot, a glass jar and a tea cup. Digital timers help you follow the steep time. Then you’re supposed to empty your teapot into the glass jar so tea doesn’t get bitter and you can enjoy it for hours.

Proper Tea doesn’t give an impression of a typical English tea house. I guess that’s the reason why both locals and tourists stop by. So if you find yourself exploring Manchester, give it a shot!
