As the menu starts, “having a taste for quality is having a taste for life”. It’s been a long time I want to write about this place. Up until now I have been there many times with many different people. All for the same purpose – to enjoy our conversations and always taste a different type of tea. Well, today is THE day.
First Flush TeaRoom can be found in the heart of Bonn, right in the marktplatz. It is buzzing with tea lovers all the time and now with colder weather people are even more attracted to this cozy place. Its interior and decorations are terrific. Paintings on the walls make a nice exhibition with some of them available for sale. Shelves are filled with teas and ceramics to purchase. Menu includes light meals, cakes and a wide choice of black, green, oolong, rooibos, herbal and fruit tea for all tastes.
Tea is served in a 0.45 litre teapot to last for long conversations and it costs only 4.90 EUR. An exciting part is that you can never guess which set of a teapot and a tea cup you will get as they do have numerous beautiful sets to surprise you with. From porcelain to glass to metal. Every detail is thought about: cookies in a plate of a teapot shape, originally designed teaspoons, a tea-light holder or an unexpected quote around the corner.
So far I’ve got to try white tea, Five o’clock tea, Kashmiri with bits of orange, ginger and cinnamon, milk-oolong, Acht Schätze (Eight Treasures), Thé a la Marrakech, coconut-cream-flavored Raffaella and one of their rooibos. My latest discovery was Genmaicha – Japanese green tea with roasted brown rice. Endless choice!
Before you head to the place, have a look at their tea menu: First Flush TeaRoom. You simply can’t be disappointed!
